F.R.I.E.N.D.S

This post is dedicated to my friends. Not just friends. But Close Friends.

Though that they were in my life for just a mere 3 years. I believe that it's quite enough time to see who should be deemed close, who should just regard as. junk.

Close Friend, can only be deem by you yourself. No one should be able to tell you who are your close friends, who shouldn't. Afterall, they are not you. I find it disturbing when I hear people say, I always thought I'm your best friend. or say, I always thought I'm your true friend.

Who are the True Friends/Best Friends. They are those who know in their heart yet there's no need for confirmation. They are those that who dont ask anything in return after doing you a favor. They are those. who sacrifices.

How long does true friend last? No one ever knows. Some people says marriage last forever. But divorce comes in. There's no such thing as divorce for friendship. There's only a term called, "Drift".

Drifting apart is when we get too caught up with our own family, love relationships or work. That's when we start to lose contact with one another. Besides this, True friends most probably know your character and behavior and tend to be able to predict what are you gonna do. Yet, we dont like to be predictable to others sometime.

Hence, we will start to find new friends to find freshness.

In this world where money, status and lust dominate, it's rare to find a true relationship built on nothing but care and love. People are too busy realising their dreams but in the end, they find themselves alone with other loners. Whilst those who took a step back and not join in the rat race came to realised that what they had, was much more than just money and status.

I just want to take this opportunity, to thank the 3 of my friends. Not just friends, But Close friends for giving endlessly to this friendship and relationship of ours. And I regret for not giving as much because I am one of those in the rat race. Slowing down may not be a choice for me but I will definately cherish this relationship that we had and will have. Thank you.

J.M.K.

Jaron, Ming, Kai.

You 3 have been a wonderful friends of mine for the past 3 years and its been a meaningful journey with you guys. Maturing and understanding life together was the greatest joy and lesson that I had and we shared. Thank you for everything.

May our relationship be like the fireworks as beautiful and full of colors but not as shortlived =)

Things that are "not" worth wondering about...

I'm not a patriotic person, but I couldn't help it but to post this article on Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic.

My Okami, once told me that Ministers in Malaysia says don't compare Singapore and Malaysia together. Because it is like comparing Top Grade Apple with Top Grade Grapes.
However, I differ from this view. I see Malaysia as a bunch of grapes on the tree, and Singapore as a piece of grape. But this grape has fallen from the bunch.

Deprived from Sunlight and nurients, being lacked behind by the rest and facing challenges in the process of fighting for survival. This piece of grape slowly spread its roots and flourish to catch up with the rest. Singapore has come a long way, can we say, on our own?

To become who we are, to be internationally recognized for the various things that we have done? To fight for our own freedom. To fight for being recognized and acknowledgement. From nothing and now to be known by many people.

Indeed, I must say, Singapore, Well-Done. Just the other day, I was taking a stroll at the Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 after my sister went back to Tokyo. I was looking at the departure screen and realised that only Singapore Airlines fly from T3. At first, I thought Singapore was being proud. Then I went to the viewing mall and look down from there. There were around 15 SIA jets parked along side. The view was gorgeous. It then occurred to me, that, this is something that Singapore has built, and of course we are proud, very proud of it.

And more is that I heard about Singapore hosting the Airshow. Before long, there was this news that Asian Aerospace is moving to Hong Kong from Singapore. The next thing I know, Singapore is hosting this new Singapore Aerospace, and the caption was the new Airbus A380 and the 6 F-16s doing its stunts.

What I'm trying to get the message across is that A country will do its best to show the world what they are recognized for and wishes to be acknowledged for the things that they have done. For the positive things.

No particular country would want to cover up the positive things and let news of the negative side of the country.

This post, is for a distant friend who believes otherwise. This is for you.

I may not physically be living in Malaysia. But I may be considered a half-Malaysian even though I can't speak Malay. Especially my business is based in Malaysia as well, my survival means. So I have to know about the on-goings in Malaysia, don't I? I may not know Malaysia that well, but would you dare say that you know Malaysia more than I do? In order to talk about politics, you must first broaden your horizon and read news that is of no bias-ness. Not just local news but foreign and International News. You have to be able to analyse and not follow what people say. In short, to have a mind of your own and not led upon.

I see potential in you, work harder and you'll succeed. Don't be put down by my words.

Disclaimer : This is a post about my opinions and views on the politics in my country. I am not promoting anti-government sentiments or whatsoever.

In Aisyalam;

Where did the RM$4.6Billion went to for the building of Port Kl@ng? The government didn't even look into the matter and ordered no political group are to bring up the matter again. Restriction! What a perfect word to use here.

It's just like your friend took your 10dollars (Tax Payers Money) telling you that he's going to buy you and him a cup of ice cream to sell to earn some profits.(Revenue from operating Port Kl@ng) But when he returned. You see neither the ice cream, nor the money. And he told to keep your mouth shut and not tell anyone about it.
Now we know why Aisyalam always goes into budget deficit.
F.Y.I. $1.4 Billion was enough to make Barings Bank close for business.
Hint. The biggest political union there.

Why was Aisyalam called a 'Racist' by Indonesi@? Hint. Indi@ isn't too happy these days.

Why are some "good" news being reported outside of Aisyalam instead of in the country itself? Hint. Some event is coming up on 8th of March 2008.

In Spore;

How come we don't hear much news from our President?

Why someone is holding 2 important Minister positions in the Parliament?

'GIC' is one of the leading investment bank in the world, hmm... I wonder... who led the company?

In me;

Anyway.. I've been reading the news lately and realised that there's quite a number of news in AisyalaM that have not been reported in the country itself but instead it was reported out of it. Like what my okami says, BBC reports them.

It is worth wondering about? or they like to call it the "sensitive" period, so no 'special' news are to be reported. The people have the right to know about the on-goings of the nation. It is not YOUR decision to decide what news should we hear, and what should we not. We chose the Government. We chose the Government because we have faith and trust in you. But not a Government that filters out what I should know and what should I not.

Democracy is freedom of choice, freedom of speech and freedom to decide what we want best for ourselves. Yet, things are not as what it is seen here. Recently, there's a few cases that involves theft for some Chinese company in AisyalaM, yet the news was being reported outside of the country. For the smarter ones, I believe you know the reason why =]

"Sensitive" period doesn't mean you have the right to censor off ALL forms of news that's against you. This isn't call censorship. This is call ROBBERY. Robbing off the people what they are entitled to. This is call THEFT. Taking news away from the people and say its for the best interest of you. Wake up people.

It's time to make the right choice. Your own choice and not being led by the nose.

Are you for me? or Against this article? Comments appreciated =] Thank You.

Competitions - Rings a Bell?

This post, the title says it all. It's a competitive world out there isn't it. Don't you agree with me?
"Survival of the fittest"

My gosh, this phrase I believed, is the mindset of almost 95% of the Singaporeans.

Losers drop out of the race, while others overtakes without stopping to help. Sounds familiar?
Nobody wants to be a loser, nobody wants to be WITH a loser.
The winners keeps winning, while the losers keeps losing.

Doesn't all these sounds O - So - familiar to you...?

Singaporeans, have been brought up in a way that LOSING is an absolutely unacceptable attitude.
Oh, by the way if you have forgotten,
Singapore has been infamous for being "Kia-Su" (Afraid of LOSING).

Since young, we have been brain-washed not to lose out to others.

Definition of "others" : Your classmates, your neighbours, your relatives. In layman's terms, Anybody who's not you.

When you asked for a new power ranger's pencil case, your mum says 'NO'. Then you go on saying that your friend, Dick, has a new power ranger's pencil case, definitely your mum will bring you to buy a full set of power rangers and not lose out to that dick head. =x

*Note: Full Set = Power Ranger's Pen, pencil, erasers, pencil case, water bottle, socks, shirts, pants, and even your cute underwear.

Reasons? Mum doesn't want you to lose out to your friend. Not just to your friend, but any Tom, Dick or Harry. Because if you lose to them, she will lose her "face" too. The context of 'face' here means reputations.

*Please note that this is not an advertisement for Nokia*

As we grew up, we demand more.
"Mummy, I want a new N95 phone."
"No."
"But why, everybody has a new N95 phone."
"OK, Here's my supplement card."

*Please note that this is not an advertisement for Nokia*

Believe it or not, I have several friends who has supplement cards from their parents. Parents really do go with the trend and that explains the competitive mindset in our kids these days.

Singaporeans are brought up as a royalty. As we prosper and with GDP growth of 8.6% per year and with 7.6% growth in the first half of 2007. There is no reason for us to be humble isn't it? Singapore's been ranked first in our Airliner, Airport, Sea Port, Financial Hub, Research and Development, Green City. Internationally known for building the Best Oil Rigs, with thanks to 'Temasek Holdings'. After all, we are just a tiny dot.

We are not open to criticism as we feel nobody has the right to criticise us. And thus, our skin grew thinner and thinner. As we start to lose our Winner's ground we start to look for blames and self-assure that things will get better. It's just a period of uncertainties. We refuse to admit the fact that the world is changing and we need to constantly improve to upgrade.

Competitions are here to remind and keep us up-to-date. But not to create jealousy and envious among people WITHIN US. But outside of the circle and constantly challenge ourselves with people AROUND US. Be Far-Sighted Singaporeans, but not Short-Sighted Singaporeans.

A reminder to all, Singapore's currently rich in cash as many foreign bankers with hundreds of millions and foreign banks chose Singapore as a Financial Hub. A hub that diversify and invest in other countries such as India and China and etc. The moment they find another replacement, they wouldn't stay a minute longer. Remember Uncle SAM doesn't like to talk about Relationships?

To sum it all up, I shall end with this.

The famous anarchist philosopher and scientist Peter Kropotkin viewed the theory of survival of the fittest as supporting co-operation rather than competition.

In his book Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution he set out his analysis leading to the conclusion that the fittest was not necessarily the best at competing individually, but often the community made up of those best at working together.

Individualist or Partnership? It all lies in your hands. =]

Chicken Or Egg Comes First? PaPa or MaMa Comes First?

Do you still remember how you look like when you first entered this world?

Yes, that's how you appear to be when you first came into this world. How "adorable" you look, when everybody around you smile and laugh, you're the only one crying.

Do you know why you cried? Because you're too comfy inside your mummy's tummy. Still remember how you were treated when you're inside mummy's tummy? You were well-fed with bird nest, tonics and etc, carefully taken care by papa and mama and each night before you sleep, you get to listen to nursery stories.

With reference with my previous post for " ... Dad, ...Dad ", I'm going to talk about the gardener for this post.

Who is the gardener? The gardener is one who doesn't give up on the seedling when it's wilting, because she knows that one day, the seedling is going to blossom, bear fruits and disperse seeds. Let's not talk about dispersing the seeds for now.

The gardener sees through the stages of the seedling growing from a seed, into a beautiful flower with fruits. How many of us realised the effort being used by the gardener into grooming a nothing, into something?

I guess, most of us takes thing for granted. I have to admit, I'm guilty. Many a time, homosepiens only know how to cherish things when they realised they are losing it, or lost it. I know this sounds like a cliché.. I know, I know you tried to cherish, however, your mum just doesn't understand what you're going through and stuffs. How you wish that they would just let you have your way without questionings. That they are old-fashion and just like to nagggggggggg you.

But hey, do you remember kicking your mum in her tummy in the 9months of her pregnancy? Do you remember her waking up in the wee hours just to feed you because you cried for food? Do you remember peeing and puking on her shirt? Oh wait, you did that on dad too. Did you? Who's the one singing lullaby before you sleep? Who's the one worrying and couldn't take a wink when you're having fever? Giving you encouragement on the first day of nursery school and so much more to mention. I believe you get what I'm trying to get across here.
She's always there when you needed help.

For the first part of your life, she's there guiding you. Giving her best to groom you into something useful to the society. Both the rich man and the gardener will want to see their seed blossom into a flower. Neither of them will want to see it wilting and die off.

The stronger you grow, the older they become. Before long, you will enter the second part of your life. And then will find yourself being with your sweetheart that you believe you can't live without. Unconsciously, you will start to spend more time with your sweetheart rather than staying at home listening to nags. Some may have to juggle the time between sweetheart and family. While some can bring their sweetheart home and live a great life. Ha ha, I'm digressing again.

Coming back, you will find a sweetheart who doesn't nag you as much as your mum. Unconsciously, you will like to spend more time with her, rather than staying home and get nagged.
As time goes, you and your mum seems to have nothing to talk about. From talking about your favorite TV shows like 'Barney and Friends', 'Sesame Street' , 'Power Rangers' and etc, it slowly cuts down to, "I'm Home" and "I'm Going Out". Some of the conversations are so similar that you can just use a recorder and put it on repeat mode.
As we grow mature with thicker hair, and more hair growing at certain areas; shall not go in depth where. Noticed that your mum's hair is becoming gray? Before you know it, it will soon turn white.

I believe we need a little reminder...at times... =]

Something interesting I read recently:
Quoted:
"When you were first brought into this world, everybody were laughing and smiling while you were left crying.
However, when you are about to leave this world, you are laughing and smiling while others were left crying."

Quoted:
"Cherish what you have
You never know what you have until you lose it, and once you lose it, you can never get it back"

This is just my two cents' worth of view.. haha..

feel free to drop me some comments =] Lovely.

Foreign Talents - As promised. =)

Well well well, what is it about foreign talents... This has been an issue dated 4years back? Things were like, Will this "ang mo" steal my rice bowl? ( Ang Mo is a hokkien word meaning Foreigners ).
Fellow Singaporeans.. If you were one of those, please slap yourself and wake up from the sweet dream of yours. You ought to be ashamed of yourself if you were to even think of that. Singaporeans are over protected by this Papa Government. And thus, we think as if we were like royalty.

Many will think that Lee Kuan Me made a bad move by bringing in Foreign talents, but look. If not for these Foreign talents, will you even take the hassle to upgrade yourself and stay competitive? I'm not pro government, but I'm stating facts here.

Adults, tend to think maturely, thus they are able to accept the fact that they lose out to the Foreign talents. However, I read a newspaper article recently. I was utterly ashamed and felt so disgraceful of our own fellow Singaporeans.

Interview with a primary school boy
Quoted: "My mother ask me not to talk to this Foreigner because, in the future he will steal away all my money."

What are parents teaching their kids these days? Shallow parents I have to say.

Another article was the Foreigner got bullied in school frequently for the past 2 years. He couldn't take the pressure anymore and charged towards the bullies. His strength was so strong that even 4 teachers couldn't hold him back. It's not that he's a heavy weight champ or he watched too much WWE.
but...
Everybody has 2 nature in us, one is our human nature and the other, beast form. Beast form only appears sub-consciously, so, don't assume that we are wolverine as and when we want to.
However, the beast nature is rarely shown unless we are being threatened. C'mon, even the friendliest puppy can become the ugliest murderer when you drove it to a corner. Everything has it's limit, when you crossed the limit or you crossed the line, you gotta be prepared to pay the price. The consequences, in short.

Foreign Talents do have families, like you and me. They left their hometown in search for a better place. If we were to think so childishly that they are here to make our life suffer, then I suggest you better not think of migrating away from Singapore. People from their country will most probably think the same that you do and outcast you. Don't forget they own the licence to purchase guns. I don't wish to see bullets being put through my brains. Retributions. Your kids might be the ones paying the price that you made.

Back to topic, Foreign talents are here for a reason. They are able to perform in their job much better than you can. Stop lamenting about your incapability to perform my fellow Singaporeans, how about learning from them and thus improving yourself? Open to suggestions and not be narrow-minded.
These foreign talents are not being hired to your company at such a high pay for no reason. They don't just speak perfect Queen English or Mao's Chinese. They think better, express themselves better, and excel in their job better. How are they able to do so? Because they learn, they reflect and they ASK. Is it so hard to open your mouth and ASK?

Singaporean kids these days are so over protected by their parents that I wanted to laugh at their ignorance.
One said,
Quoted: "Foreigners cannot take up scholarship in Singapore"
Hmm.. Who made that rule?
I mean, Singapore will give scholarship to anyone, WHO IS CAPABLE. Hello? Wake up, This is not M'sia. This is Singapore, a Country that practices Meritocracy.

If I were to ask any of the Tertiary Students who is the Finance Minster in Singapore. I doubt they are able to answer. Prove me wrong and I'll apologise.

The Foreign Talent issue has already made clear to us, that we, Singaporeans, have to change a mindset. There's no such thing as life is a bed of roses. Beneath that bed of roses, there's THORNS. But New age Singaporean children don't see it that way. They believe our PAPA Government will always be there to remove those thorns. PAPA won't be protecting you from rain all the time you know? One day, you have to venture out there alone. How are you going to survive in the war field?

This is just my two cents' worth of view.. haha..

Slam me. or agree with me. Enlightenment me.
feel free to drop me some comments =] Lovely.
